The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday but lost one of their star players. Linebacker Nick Bolton left the game in the second half and did not return with an apparent wrist injury.

After the game, head coach Andy Reid revealed Bolton dislocated his wrist and the Chiefs’ trainers were doing MRIs on him. On Monday, sources told NFL insiders Tome Pelissero and Ian Rappoport that Bolton will need surgery to repair his injured wrist – keeping Kansas City’s star defender out of commission for two months.

This is a huge blow to the Chiefs’ defense, but backup Drue Tranquill stepped in earlier this season and played well. The wrist is Bolton’s second injury this season after suffering an ankle sprain in Week 2 that held him away from the field for almost a month.

When healthy, Bolton’s been a game-wrecker and has tallied 28 tackles and an interception in four starts.
