The Kansas City Chiefs are another step closer to defending their championship crown after collecting a Wildcard win over the Miami Dolphins on Saturday.

The Chiefs needed another impressive showing from one of their skill-position players when they hosted the Miami Dolphins on Saturday evening. Rookie wide receiver Rashee Rice rose to the occasion once again and finished with eight catches for 130 yards and a touchdown as Kansas City defeated the Dolphins 26-7.

But Rice’s breakout performance captured two additional accolades that cement his place in Chiefs franchise postseason history. On Saturday night, Rice moved past former Chiefs WR Elmo Wright for the most receptions and receiving yards by a rookie in a playoff game.

This is an outstanding accomplishment as Rice has turned into one of the Chiefs’ most reliable pass-catchers this season. The rookie took advantage of Miami’s game plan to turn most of their attention towards tight end Travis Kelce and made them pay every time he caught the football.

Without a doubt, Rice has transformed into one of Patrick Mahomes‘ primary receivers that he prefers to throw to. He’s sure to make even more noise in the playoffs as Kansas City readies for their next opponent in the Divisional round next weekend.
