Former Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach Dick Vermeil is heading to Canton. On Thursday evening, the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2022 was revealed at the NFL Honors.

Vermeil is a storied name in Missouri pro sports. After coaching the Philadelphia Eagles from 1976 to 1982, leading them to a 1980 NFC Championship and Super Bowl appearance in 1980, he ended a 13-year hiatus to coach the infamous Greatest Show on Turf offense of the St. Louis Rams from 1997-1999. In 1999, he led the Rams to their first Championship season, defeating the Tennessee Titans in Super Bowl 34.

To close out his coaching career, Vermeil stayed in Missouri by traveling west on I-70 to Kansas City to coach the Chiefs from 2001-2005.

Vermeil took former Rams QB Trent Green with him to lead the Chiefs offense and created one of the most dominant offensive units, never to win a postseason game.

The 84-year-old led the Chiefs to a 44-36 record in five seasons combined and only made the playoffs in 2003.

Vermeil retired following the ’05 season. He heads to Canton with a 120-109 record, a 6-5 postseason record, two NFC Championships, and a Super Bowl ring.
