According to the League’s official transaction report, the Kansas City Chiefs made a series of roster moves on Tuesday afternoon. The Chiefs concluded their rookie mini camp on Monday.

Per the report, the team brought back center Austin Reiter and wide receiver Gary Jennings, who were both released on May 5, to make room for the wave of undrafted free agents that came to One Arrowhead Drive over the weekend. Kansas City also signed offensive guard Chris Glaser, who made a good impression during rookie mini-camp.

Notably, Reiter, 30, was the Chiefs’ starting center from 2018-to 2020 before walking into free agency in 2021 and spending the season with three different clubs. During his Chiefs tenure, he started in 32 out of the 46 games he participated in and was the starter in both of the team’s back-to-back Super Bowl appearances. Kansas City brought Reiter back in 2022 to keep veteran depth behind second-year starter Creed Humphrey and replace 2021 backup Austin Blythe.

Jennings, 25, is a former fourth-round pick made by the Seattle Seahawks in 2019 that has yet to find his way into the NFL, playing with five different clubs after the ‘Hawks released him on November 5, 2019. Jennings signed a future/reserved contract with the Chiefs back in January of this year and will likely be a camp body at the very least.

Undrafted rookie Chris Glaser is a 6-foot-4, 300-pound offensive guard that started 12 games for the Virginia Cavaliers last season. Through three college seasons, he has experience playing on the left and right sides of the o-line from the guard position.

On Monday, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid commented on the group of tryout players that attended the team’s rookie camp.

“I told them their effort was unbelievable,” said Reid. “First day, we were flopping around a little bit. Second day they beared down and did a nice job of learning. We added some new plays yesterday, and then today, they were smooth, so we did a little bit of red zone today. What a great job they did just coming in and the effort, the learning. It’s like learning French overnight, one of those deals.

“You’ve gotta giddy-up and go and spend the time doing it. There is no easy way around it, but you can see that they did that. I was proud of how they handled themselves.”

Kansas City also moved on from four players on Tuesday. The team waived running back Brendan Knox, offensive tackle Gene Pryor, defensive tackle Darius Stills, and most notably, quarterback Anthony Gordon.

Gordon’s been with the Chiefs since early 2021, but it’s unrealistic for the team to have five QBs on the 90-man roster once OTAs begin to ramp up. It also means the Chiefs coaching staff liked what they saw from former Kent State signal caller Dustin Crum.

The Chiefs’ 90-man roster currently has 89 players.
