The Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award is an honor named after the founding owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers that has recognized a player who exemplifies on-field sportsmanship, leadership, and integrity since it was created in 2014.

On Thursday, via its official Twitter page, the Kansas City Chiefs announced the team nominated quarterback Patrick Mahomes for the award.

Of all the accolades that have mounted up over Mahomes’ career, he’s never won the honor, which includes a $25,000 donation from the NFL foundation that will go out to any charity of the winner’s choice.

The winner will be chosen out of eight finalists, selected out of 32 nominees by a panel of former players in the NFL Legends Community (Warrick Dunn, Larry Fitzgerald, Curtis Martin, and Leonard Wheeler).

The winner will be announced at the NFL Honors on the Thursday before Super Bowl LVI.
