The Kansas City Chiefs have announced they’ve placed second-year wide receiver Skyy Moore on its Reserve/Injured list on Monday. Moore left early during the Chiefs’ Week 15 matchup in Foxborough yesterday.

Kansas City, who’s already been dealing with an underachieving receiving core all season, lost another one of their pass catchers for the season. Former second-round pick Skyy Moore left early during the Chiefs’ matchup against the New England Patriots. Head coach Andy Reid revealed after the game that Moore was pulled from the game because his knee began to swell, but it initially didn’t sound like anything serious.

On Monday, the team released an afternoon statement on X.com that announced Moore had been placed on IR.

There’s some speculation that Moore was sent to IR to make room for Justin Ross, who returned to the team last week after serving a six-game suspension while on the Commissioner’s exempt list. Moore hasn’t stepped up in the way Kansas City was hoping on offense this season.

Instead, he’s been more of a liability anytime the ball has been within his vicinity, and his number of snaps has decreased as a result. Over the last three games, Moore’s snaps have gone down from 57% against the Raiders, 35% against the Bills, and 25% against the Patriots.

Right now, there’s no telling if Moore’s time in Kansas City could come to an early end after being drafted by the club in 2022. All that’s certain is he won’t be suiting up with his teammates for the rest of 2023. Moore finishes his second season with 21 receptions for 244 yards and a touchdown.
