The Kansas City Chiefs have been stellar on the defensive side of the ball this season and are near the top of the league in many categories. One area that the team has struggled with in the past that’s improved this year has been the Chiefs’ ability to get after the passer.

According to senior team reporter Matt McMullen, the Chiefs have thirteen players who’ve registered at least half a sack through nine games. In all, Kansas City has totaled 31 sacks on the season thus far – the second-most in the league.

One major contributor that’s helped juice up Kansas City’s pass rush has been second-year defensive end George Karlaftis, who holds the seventh-most QB pressures in the NFL with 47. He’s also recorded six sacks in nine games, tying his total from last season.

Kansas City’s defense has been playing lights out this year, which has been a welcomed sight for fans who are used to seeing the Chiefs play at a much lower level on that side of the ball since the Mahomes era began. As the passing offense continues to find itself, the pieces are in place for the Chiefs to have a championship-caliber defense that can help defend their Super Bowl title.

But plenty of work still lies ahead of the Chiefs, and it starts next week when they host the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football for Week 11 (November 20).
