Now that Week 18 of the 2023 NFL season is in the books, the Kansas City Chiefs will officially play host to the Miami Dolphins.

Following Miami’s 21-14 loss to the Buffalo Bills, the NFL announced that the Dolphins will play the Chiefs on Saturday, January 13 at 7 p.m. CT, in the AFC wildcard round. The other games include Cleveland traveling to play the Houston Texans, and Buffalo hosting Pittsburgh.

The Chiefs/Dolphins matchup will exclusively be streamed on Peacock when the game airs on Saturday night. The Cleveland/Houston game will take the afternoon spot on NBC, Peacock, and Telemundo at 3:30 p.m. CT.

This weekend will be the second time this season that the Chiefs will square off against the Dolphins. Miami was initially supposed to play Kansas City at Arrowhead for their Week 9 matchup before the game eventually relocated to Berlin, Germany. Kansas City came out victorious over the Dolphins in that game, as the Chiefs’ offense scored two touchdowns and their defense added a score to jump ahead 21-0. Although the Dolphins clawed their way back scoring two touchdowns in the second half, Miami failed to score any more points and the Chiefs left Europe with a 21-14 win.

Saturday will be the first time former Chiefs wideout Tyreek Hill will return to Arrowhead since being traded to the Dolphins two off-seasons ago. However, Hill being shipped off to South Beach has prevented him from staying in Kansas City media circles as Hill has consistently talked about the Chiefs, taking shots at his former team every chance he gets on his podcast. Which makes his return to KC an even bigger headline than it already is.

Another factor to keep an eye on will be the inclement weather that is projected to hit Kansas City this weekend. Northwestern Missouri is scheduled to enter an extreme cold snap with below-freezing temps on Friday going into the following week. Game time temps are projected to be in the low teens at kickoff and could fall below zero after the fourth quarter, according to local Kansas City news stations.

Despite the fridged temperatures, the fans at Arrowhead will be ready to rock and roll as the Chiefs get set for what will hopefully be another long run in the postseason.
