The Kansas City Chiefs have known who they’ll square off against in the 2025 NFL season, but they didn’t know the dates and times until now!
With the release of the league’s upcoming slate of games for next fall, the Chiefs will take center stage with eight standalone games. Kansas City leads all NFL clubs with seven prime-time matchups and will also take the field on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
Kansas City will help kick off the NFL season on Friday, September 5, in São Paulo, Brazil, against the Los Angeles Chargers at 7 p.m. in Week 1.
Other prime-time games include:
2025 will be the third consecutive season the Chiefs play on Christmas Day. But that isn’t the only holiday they’ll hit the gridiron. Kansas City will also visit the Dallas Cowboys in a highly anticipated Thanksgiving matchup, as Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes faces his hometown team. The game will be the second of three Thursday games kicking off Week 13.
This will be the first time the Chiefs play on Thanksgiving since 2006, when they hosted the Broncos. That game marked the very first Thursday Night Football broadcast and was also the NFL Network’s debut airing of a live game.
Kansas City will play five total games in the early Noon window:
The Chiefs will only be featured in the early noon time slot five times this season when they face the Raiders on October 19, the Colts on November 23, the Chargers on December 14, and the Titans on December 21. All of those will be played at home except for the Tennessee game.
Kansas City also gets its bye week in Week 10, a much more favorable time to take a break. Last season, their bye came in Week 6, which proved to be too early for a team that regularly makes deep postseason runs. Several starters were banged up as the 2024 campaign progressed, and a later bye could’ve been beneficial.
This year, they won’t have to worry about that.
The Chiefs will end the regular season against the Raiders at Allegiant Stadium. The time for that game is yet to be determined, as the league prefers to wait for the playoff picture to unfold before assigning time slots. More than likely, the game will kick off around 3:30 p.m. Central Time, as most visits to the Black Hole typically do. The release of the NFL schedule means football is right around the corner. Soon, OTAS and training camps will ramp up as the summer months approach. In the meantime, fans can pass the time debating win totals and how they think their team will fare this season.
