Chiefs place two players on injured reserve

The Kansas City Chiefs lost two players to injury following their preseason opener against the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday.

Head coach Andy Reid told reporters Monday that safety Deon Bush had suffered a ruptured Achilles during the game and would require surgery to repair, ending the 31-year-old’s 2025 campaign. Bush first signed with Kansas City in 2022 and served as depth for the Chiefs’ defensive backfield. 2025 was an opportunity for him to prove his value in a more prominent role, instead it’ll be spent and the club’s Reserved/Injured list.

Reid also announced that defensive end Janarius Robinson was held out of practice on Monday and will be out for the season after suffering a foot fracture. Robinson played exceptionally well against the Cardinals, registering the defense’s only sack of the game. He will join Bush on Kansas City’s IR list.

Robinson joined the Chiefs after spending two seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders. In 2024, he appeared in 10 games, tallying 5 tackles and 0.5 sacks. The 26-year-old began his career with the Minnesota Vikings as a fourth-round pick in 2021. He also spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles for a season in 2022.
